Crafty Christmas Fun

Homemade Christmas cards are just the best, aren't they? Its one thing I loved to do for all my teachers when i went to YMV! I can't believe its almost Christmas again.Winter break has just started for me and I'm o-so-excited. I will finally have some time to relax and forget about finals, and school, and all that jazz. :) Also no one can judge me for listening to christmas music non-stop, and drinking nothing but starbucks peppermint hot chocolate! Excuse me while i drive to the nearest location! :)

Happy Almost Christmas

a fall photoshoot with darling Janelle

 My Nikon buddy / partner in crime came to me and said she was itching to use her camera because she hadn't used it in so long. When i told her i felt the same way we had a spontaneous photo-shoot at the random historic houses around my neighborhood. This post is a result of our spontaneity, I hope you like it. :)

p.s. I'm thinking about starting a fb photography page. Any tips or tricks for me?

05 September 2013

because i actually had time to make them...

Guys, I'm so proud of myself! A few Fridays ago I had two birthday parties to go to  - back to back and I'm never doing that again - I decided to make birthday cards for these parties instead of buying them. Usually I don't make my own birthday cards... and its not because I don't want to but because I don't have time. When ever I tried to make one for a friend's birthday in the past, I never have enough time to finish it and would end up having to go to the store to buy one (target has the best birthday cards. period.) and then when I got home from the party all my craft stuff would be everywhere and the half finished card would just go in the trash.... (shame, I know... but I'm wasteful, I waste things). Point is,  I ACTUALLY FINISHED THESE CARDS! YAY! WAHOO! and I had time to make a 3rd card just cuz. :) I'm just so happy and proud of myself right now. Its like "YES! I actually did it!" *does happy jig* *breaks out into song*

Anyway, I thought I might show you all my cards, is that okay?

If not, too bad. I'm showing them to you anyway. hehe ;)

A Little Gathering

This evening was nothing special, just a starry night filled with; fun, friends, and cake! Mocha and chocolate cake to be exact. The festivities included volleyball, a photo booth, good music, and a movie on the lawn. Although I turned 17 way back in July, I wasn't able to celebrate it with all of my family and friends until now. This night was mine to spend with the friends I hadn't seen all summer. Also it was the night I realized I was getting old because it took me 6 times to blow out all my candles. :)

Texas... a while ago...

I would like to move to Texas. Honestly, it is one of the most beautiful, non-humid states I have ever been too! There is so much to see, and do. So much history there - I love it! Also I got to see my Mama & Papa, who I haven't seen in FOREVER!

Have a fantastic week y'all.

Grandma's Garden

I love my grandma's house. Her hard wood floors, burnt orange window shades, the quilts, the huge chest in the guest room filled with memories and clothes from Okinawa, the extremely huge tv, my grandpa's Harley, the feeling of home, the smell of chicken and dumplings or the endless supply of bar-b-q, and her garden. I love her garden.

Swing Time Salute

Let the drums roll out... Let the trumpets call... While the people shout...
Strike up the band!

( I sang that song in choir... seemed fitting for this post.)

Virginia Stage Company's Swing Time Salute: USO Tour; on the Battle Ship Wisconsin. It is set in the 40s, to give you a live interpretation of what it would be like for sailors back then to be on a ship for months at a time, when an exciting USO tour visits their ship to perform. This play was so incredible. I loved all the music, costumes, and the dancing. It reminds me of when times were much simpler... aghhh...... *slips into a daydream* Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers... all those classics... if only it were a different time. *sigh*

Color Me Rad

Well Hello Everyone! Yes, I know today is mother's day, and i shouldn't be on blogger, I should be with my family. But i'm the only one home right now, so i figured i would log-on!

Since I am finally done with those awful, never-ending spring trip posts, I figured i would post the photos of the 5k I volunteered for with my friend, Kenzy.  As it turns out i was able to take a lot of photos, so i shall upload some of them for you! The race was truly amazing, if they comeback next year, my friend and i decided we would run it! {which means a lot cuz we "don't run"} anyhoo le photos.

before the race.... Nice and clean, with my white keds on!

we were one of the stations that sprayed the people with color!

me and my bestie Kenzy!

My mom didn't really want to be in the photo below so i edited it a little so you couldn't tell it was her haha..... {just so ya know}

my once white keds.... now mostly yellow..

and now mostly pink...

 below is the parking lot after the race!

 when i got home i took off my shoes and this is what my feet looked

Well Happy Mothers Day to all!

a tribute to picnik...

on the 18th. picnik, my favorite photo editing website shut down. It happened to be the only photo editing program i really liked. It was user friendly and for premium members like me, the yearly subscription was reasonably priced.

I have done so much and gone so far using picnik. It helped me with editing photos for my school {homeschool} yearbook for the past 3 years and in making sisters Graduation Cards.

and so.. i would like to say thank you to the picnik team for the amazing website you make! RIP Picknik! :)

below is some photos i edited with picnik. Haha looking back on all these photos i took some really weird stuff...

 above: is the back cover of my Yearbook Contest entry. {it didn't win this year but they are using it for next year}

Below: this is the cover for my entry.

above: one of my brothers senior photos i took with my sony point and shoot.

below: i used to have a dog named Duke and this is him! He loved to play dress-up. My sister and i used to put him in our prom dresses!

above: a few years ago i was in the play Annie {jr.} this is a friend of mine he played FDR. {get it? haha}

 above: is a very close friend of mine. everyone always thinks we are sisters or twins. Funny part is her last name is Zach like mine hers is just spelled Zack. But originally it was spelled with an H. and their family comes from the same part mine did in Germany. weird no? haha yeah i just changed my eye color and kinda gave her a nose job. haha we always laugh at this photo!

its kinda sad because i had a lot more photos that were saved on our home computer.  But when it crashed i not only lost all the photos of my dog and other stuff but also the ones from picnik. :(  ... I'll will try and find one of my sisters graduation card to show you all....

if you used to use picnik and cant find something to replace it i would suggest pic monkey. picnik gave a lot of its technology to that site. And its completely free even the premium stuff on their... thats what i use now, well that and photoshop {but i'm still trying to figure out photo shop so mainly pic monkey!}

well everyone have a great week and Happy Earth Day!
