I recently stayed with some of my mother's family at a beach house in Duck, NC. Duck is amazing! and if you're looking for a quiet place to get away Duck is perfect! The houses there are adorable! Our house was a gray-ish 4 bedroom, 2 story house on the beach! We had an amazing view! There was a nice deck and we got to see the sun rise each morning (if we got up early enough)! My cousin MaryRachel and I always said to each other "If only we knew how to surf!" The waves are amazing! So large and playful! If someone asked me "what was your favorite part of vacation?" i would say "HIGH TIDE!" The waves are a little bit larger and its more fun to try and duck under them! You do have to be careful though because there is an under tow, no matter what time you go. Near the end of my stay we all went jet skiing! Who would have thought you're grandfather could go over 70 mph on a jet ski! You had to be 16 to drive, which is why i could not! But it was still amazing! We went back the next day so my sister and mother could do it too! (they came back to take my brother and i home) We ended up renting 3 of the jet ski's and my grandfather, cousin and i all tried to fit on one! It was hilarious!
