By the donzerly light...

The funniest thing happened at choir yesterday, which kind of made up for the awful day I had! The choir director Mrs. Robinson asked the students to write down our national anthem! Apparently 90% of Americans don't know there own national anthem! crazy right? Anyway she said in the past few years that she has asked the students to write down the anthem, people have said things like "hosay can you see" (o say can you see) and someone once said "through the pearaliss march" {thru the perilous fight} and my personal all time favorite...... "by the donzerly light" I'm sorry. Am I the only person who knows the national anthem? its "dawns early light"! It makes me wonder who still knows the pledge of allegiance!

"Back in the day" didn't they used to sing the national anthem every morning before school started? Or maybe they said the pledge of allegiance, or maybe that’s just in the old movies. But what happened to that patriotism?

Gerry T. Himes said "Where did genuine, heartfelt love of our country lose its way? When did we stop believing in our values and purpose as citizens of America? In other times of insecurity, we were led by the words of our leaders to rise above fear and doubt. Roosevelt’s calm assurance that we had nothing to fear but fear itself, or Kennedy’s plea to ask ourselves what we could do for our country, as well as the themes of “A Great Society” and “A Shining City on a Hill,” played not to our fears, but to our hearts. And, as Americans, we were inspired to share in our country’s challenges as well as in her greatness."
This is just something to think about! Tomorrow is the anniversary of 9/11. Although I was too young to remember what happened on that day, I know it is important to remember the ones that died and the families that lost a loved one! I hope you will remember!

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
